Paper Bird Childrens Books and Arts

Paper Bird has found a nest among friends at the historic Moores Building, alongside the Moore Gallery and the Moore & Moore Cafe, on Henry St. Close by to other independent bookshops, New Edition and Bill Campbell's Books, along with Notre Dame University, Paper Bird is helping create a literary precinct in the West End of Fremantle. A dedicated story house is evolving around the bookshop with writers, story tellers & illustrators on hand, workshops, kids book clubs, animation screenings, book launches, and discussion panels in planning to make for a dynamic children's cultural hub. The children's specialist bookshop will stock quality books, focusing on Australian writers and illustrators, along with children's art supplies for budding illustrators. Jen Jackson is the bookshop owner and coodinator of the story house. Having worked in London, Perth and Melbourne for many years in child mental health services and an avid visitor and supporter of children's literature and arts centres across the world, she has collected her ideas, vision and enthusiasm to create a little literary arts house for children in Fremantle where there is a wealth of local children's writers, illustrators and story tellers. There is something for kids of all ages, right up to young adults. Grown ups are welcome too if they don't get in the way of the fun.
