Mick Harvey is a revered figure in Australian music. The multi-instrumentalist is best known for his connection with Nick Cave, playing a pivotal role in the Cave-fronted bands Boys Next Door, Birthday Party and the Bad Seeds. He is also a long-time producer and band member for PJ Harvey.
Over 20 years Mick Harvey has been translating the songs of French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg into English, with the fourth album Intoxicated Women due to be released in November.
Admired for his subversively witty and well-arranged records, Gainsbourg is considered one of the most important and influential figures of popular music in France and around the world. In his translations, Harvey has revealed the clever and often provocative nature of Gainsbourg’s work to non-French speakers.
Performing with a full band, string section and guest vocalists, Harvey will perform tracks from the latest album plus favourites from the previous three volumes, Intoxicated Man, Pink Elephants and Delirium Tremens.
Rarely performed live, don’t miss this opportunity to see a master musician’s interpretations of a legend's work.
