Learn How to Code for Parents Adults

No idea about coding or even how start to "Code"? This course is for parents and grand-parents who wish to learn how to be involved in coding with their children and grand-children. Or, any adult just curious to learn a bit about coding. Class is kept small, maximum of 6 adults. Prerequisite: MUST bring your own WiFi enabled Windows device. No computer programming knowledge required. This is a class for adults. Objective: Learn how to facilitate coding with your kids, code project ideas, and learn some coding yourself by doing some fun hands-on simple coding activities: Introduction to various coding platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other electronics Dive into block coding, and create an account for and be guided in how to use Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) (Optional) more ambitious parents and grand-parents download Python for line-coding to their laptop Limited space, booking is essential. Ceramics Slip Casting (9-12 years)

In this two day class learn the delicate art of slip casting, which entails creating a ceramic vessel by using liquid clay and a mould. Whilst waiting for the cast to dry, decorate a ready-made dish with colourful underglaze and texturing techniques. On day two decorate your own cast dish ready to be fired. Finish the class with two unique ceramic dishes to take home.

Funky T Shirt and Matching Bag

Design and decorate a t -shirt and bag using funky stencils, fabric paint and crayons. Go crazy with colour and pattern on fabric, then cut up and applique onto your t-shirt and matching bag. Please bring your own light-coloured t-shirt. 

Aboriginal Culture and Food for Kids

Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming shares traditional Dreamtime stories tailored for little ears, about animals and how they came to be in the Nyoongar culture. Come and see artefacts and the tools Nyoongar people would traditionally use to hunt and gather. Once we've worked and 'found' our food, then come inside to do some taste testing of foods using the traditional herbs and spices of the land.  Kids should bring with them a drink, as well as sunscreen. Come along to hear about Nyoongar connection to country, along with the Nyoongar six seasons, and the foods available according to each season. This workshop will help young adults develop an understanding of totems and the roles of women, men and children as well as respecting country and culture. Traditional artefacts will be shown, and all information is tailored to educate older children on responsibility, history and culture. Then have a go at using traditional herbs and spices to create a tasting board of ancient Aboriginal flavours Guests should bring with them a drink, as well as sunscreen. Food is provided.
