until 7:15pm

8 Phillimore Street

  • West End

Weaving loops and samples with contemporary (electric guitar, synths, bass, drums) and traditional instruments (voice, violin, flute, piano, clarinet, bassoon), 'A Loop is as Good as a Rest' creates captivating music crisscrossing funky jazzy vibes through to lush layered soundscapes.

A collaboration of students and staff from St George's Anglican School, combining sampling, looping, instrumental performance, live electronics, and sound design: Electrocity Ensemble is surprising, enchanting, haunting, beautiful, edgy.

Electrocity was formed out of a week-long cross-curricular workshop at the end of 2016. That initial workshop (like all our rehearsals) was a week of crazy, creative, experimentation and led to the formation of Electrocity as a permanent group.

Presented by:
St George's Anglican Grammar School Music Department

St George's Anglican Grammar School is a non-selective rapidly growing secondary school located in Perth’s CBD, founded 2015. Our students come from a wide range of socioeconomic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Our Music Department is deliberately “open”; the facilities and equipment freely available for students and staff to practice, play, create and learn from each other. Our starting point is music is something we DO, and we want our students to keep doing music, in whatever form that may take, into adulthood. Our Music Department is a community where everybody benefits from making music; it’s welcoming, vibrant, curious, democratic and creative.
